A Faster, Slimmer, More Responsive GR
Deemed “the ultimate snap shooter,” the Ricoh GR IV is the latest entry in the acclaimed compact fixed-lens series, designed for photographers who demand a balance of image quality, portability, and speed. With a newly developed 25.7MP BSI CMOS sensor, redesigned 28mm-equivalent lens, improved AF, and a more powerful stabilization system, the GR IV builds on the strengths of its predecessors while refining nearly every detail. Added enhancements include a new battery with better life, expanded built-in memory, and the debut of the dedicated GR WORLD app for wireless control and sharing.

New 25.7MP Sensor and GR ENGINE 7
The GR IV debuts a back-illuminated 25.7MP APS-C CMOS sensor paired with the new GR ENGINE 7 image processor. Together, they deliver a full stop better low-light performance, faster operation, and cleaner images at higher ISO values—up to ISO 204800. The new engine also contributes to a 0.6-second startup time, quicker autofocus, and smooth 14-bit DNG and JPEG image recording for both flexibility and quality.

Faster and More Accurate Autofocus
Autofocus speed has been significantly improved thanks to the lighter, redesigned lens and upgraded image processor. Hunting is greatly reduced, while face recognition and subject tracking are more reliable. Even in dim conditions, the GR IV locks focus quickly and precisely. Photographers also benefit from the Full Press Snap function, which bypasses AF altogether and instantly focuses at a preset distance—perfect for fast-paced street photography where reaction time is critical.
5-Axis Shake Reduction
Another major leap forward is the new 5-axis Shake Reduction system, which now compensates for up to six stops of camera movement. This upgrade makes handheld shooting in challenging light easier than ever, improving sharpness for both stills and video while offering more stability than the previous 3-axis design.

Shooting Modes and Creative Options
The GR IV adds several new shooting and exposure modes for both convenience and creativity. Snap Distance-Priority AE emphasizes depth of field, while Program Auto Ex allows seamless switching between exposure priorities with the camera’s dials. An anti-aliasing filter simulator uses the SR mechanism to reduce moiré when needed. For creative expression, the Image Control system offers 12 presets—including a new Cinema mode with Yellow and Green tones—and allows for custom adjustments to saturation, contrast, grain, and more. The camera also supports unlimited multi-exposures, highlight-weighted metering, and Full HD 1080p video recording at up to 60 fps.
Redesigned 28mm f/2.8 Lens
At the heart of the GR series is its sharp wide-angle lens, and the GR IV introduces an all-new optical formula. The 28mm-equivalent f/2.8 lens is smaller, lighter, and quicker to deploy while producing sharper images with improved resolution across the frame. The design incorporates aspherical, HR, and low-dispersion elements to control aberrations and deliver high clarity. A dedicated Macro mode enables close-up shooting at distances as close as 2.4″, while an integrated ND filter allows for wider apertures or slower shutter speeds in bright conditions. Built-in crop modes also simulate 35mm and 50mm fields of view for added compositional flexibility.

Slimmer Body, Better Handling
The GR IV maintains the sleek, pocketable design that defines the series while slimming down slightly for an even firmer grip. A lightweight magnesium alloy body ensures durability, while an updated control layout with a new ADJ dial improves handling. The 3.0″ 1.04m-dot touchscreen LCD has an air-gapless design for outdoor visibility, with adjustable brightness modes including an Outdoor boost. The new DB-120 battery extends life to approximately 250 shots, and 53GB of internal memory provides extra storage. A USB-C port supports both in-camera charging and fast file transfer.
Wireless Connectivity and GR WORLD App
The GR IV introduces a dedicated GR WORLD app, designed for seamless file transfers, wireless shooting control, and location tagging. Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connections ensure stable pairing with mobile devices, making it easier than ever to integrate the GR IV into a modern workflow.
Optional Accessories
The camera’s hot shoe supports the GF-2 External Flash, which matches the GR IV’s compact style and features Auto Flash mode with USB-C charging. The BJ-12 Charger enables dual battery charging for extended shoots, while the GA-3 Lens Adapter and GW-4 Wide Conversion Lens expand optical versatility, allowing for the use of filters and a wider field of view.
