With an updated operating system, HDR monitoring, and RAW recording capabilities, the Atomos Ninja 5.2″ 4K HDMI Recording Monitor is a powerful on-camera monitor and recorder designed for professional filmmakers. Supporting DCI 4K HDMI footage and ProRes RAW recording up to 6K (with compatible cameras), this monitor ensures high-quality capture for a variety of productions. Maintaining the same compact form factor as previous models, the Ninja remains compatible with most Atomos monitor accessories, making it an easy upgrade for existing setups.
AtomOS 11 Operating System
The AtomOS 11 operating system, designed specifically for the Ninja 5.2″, brings a wealth of new features and an improved icon interface for enhanced usability. It includes a comprehensive suite of monitor assist functions such as Focus Peaking, Zoom, Atomos and ARRI False Color, EL Zone colorized exposure, Safe Areas, RecordAssist, PlayBackAssist, SegmentPro, and Cine Guides. Additionally, the AtomHDR processing engine allows for real-time Log to PQ/HLG previewing, providing filmmakers with more precise control over their footage.

The 5.2″ IPS touchscreen of the Ninja offers a 1920 x 1080 resolution and 1000 cd/m² brightness, ensuring visibility even in broad daylight. With 10-bit color processing and a Rec.709 color gamut, it delivers color-accurate, high-quality monitoring. Additionally, the Calibrite ColorChecker Display Pro/Plus calibration support provides further precision for professional-grade color fidelity during filming.
Comprehensive Color
The Ninja supports a wide range of log formats from leading camera manufacturers, including Sony, ARRI, JVC, RED, FUJIFILM, Nikon, Panasonic, and Canon. It also allows you to upload custom 3D LUTs, providing flexibility in your color grading workflow. Additionally, the monitor can output HDR conversion to formats like Log, HLG, PQ, or Dolby Vision, enhancing your color management and ensuring consistent, high-quality visuals across different platforms.
HDMI Interface, ProRes RAW Recording
The Ninja features HDMI input and output ports that support up to DCI 4K video at 60 fps in monitoring, recording, and playback modes. Additionally, it supports 3.5K RAW at 60 fps footage with select cameras. Over 55 different camera models are compatible with the Ninja for RAW recording via HDMI, allowing for 6K recording at 30 fps, providing exceptional video quality and flexibility for professional filmmaking and content creation.
Record 4K HDR Gaming
The Ninja can be configured as a stand-alone system for UHD 4K, HDR, and high frame rate gaming capture. Record, monitor, and instantly review your gameplay for posting to YouTube or other platforms.
Optional Atomos CONNECT Module
The Ninja is compatible with the optional Atomos CONNECT module, which enhances your monitor’s connectivity and cloud capabilities. The module enables access to cloud workflows like C2C, Atomos Edit, and Atomos RemoteView through Atomos Cloud Studio. It adds 12G-SDI connectivity, AirGlu wireless timecode and control, Wi-Fi 6, and GigE Ethernet, providing versatile options for live streaming via NDI or custom RTMP/S destinations. The CONNECT module also allows for HDMI to SDI and SDI to HDMI video conversion, giving you even more flexibility in managing your video signals.
SSD Recording
The Ninja supports direct recording to Atomos Master Caddy II and Master Caddy III 2.5″ hard drives for efficient storage. It is also compatible with AtomX SSDmini drives and CFAST II cards when using a separately available adapter. This flexibility ensures you have multiple options for high-speed, reliable recording, catering to your specific storage needs during production.
Power Options
The Ninja offers multiple power options for versatility on set. It features an L-series battery plate that supports NP-F L-series batteries, providing power output ranging from 5.8V to 7.2V. Additionally, the USB-C port supports 30W PD power delivery, allowing for easy charging with the included cable. For extended power needs, you can use the included dummy eliminator to power the monitor via DC power sources, ensuring continuous operation during long shoots.
Control Options
The Ninja offers versatile control options for ease of use during production. Multifunction control buttons work seamlessly with the touchscreen interface, enabling intuitive onboard operation. The monitor supports Auto HDMI camera trigger for Canon and Sony cameras, using the Atomos Open Standard. For remote control, the optional CONNECT module unlocks Bluetooth and RF-driven control. Additionally, LANC control and calibration can be accessed via a USB-C to serial connection, available separately, providing even more flexibility in camera operation and setup.
