Canon EOS R6 Mark III – The Super Hybrid
Built to be the high-performance all-arounder for creators who work in both photo and video, the Canon EOS R6 Mark III brings together a newly developed 32.5MP sensor, advanced autofocus capabilities, faster shooting speeds, and a redesigned body that enhances handling in any environment. This next-generation hybrid camera elevates the R6 series with 7K video, up to 40 fps stills, improved Dual Pixel CMOS AF II, and a more robust 8.5-stop image stabilization system.
The addition of dual card compatibility—CFexpress Type B and SD UHS-II—gives shooters more flexibility for both stills and high-bitrate video workflows.
32.5MP Full-Frame Sensor & DIGIC X Processing
Offering a significant boost in resolution, the R6 Mark III features a 32.5MP full-frame CMOS sensor, providing added detail, better cropping flexibility, and greater clarity for large-format prints. Paired with the powerful DIGIC X processor, the camera delivers low-noise performance, accurate color, and the speed necessary for high-resolution stills and demanding video formats.

Borrowing high-speed processing from the flagship R3, the R6 Mark III supports 40 fps continuous shooting with its silent electronic shutter—or 12 fps mechanically—while maintaining autofocus and auto-exposure calculations before every frame. A Pre-Continuous Shooting function captures 20 additional frames before the shutter is fully pressed, ensuring split-second action is never missed.
SCN Modes for Simple, In-Camera Creative Control
For newcomers or those seeking quick results without post-production, the R6 Mark III includes a wide array of Scene (SCN) modes that automatically optimize exposure and rendering. Options include Portrait, Smooth Skin, Group Photo, Landscape, Panning, Food, Night Portrait, HDR Backlight Control, and more. Video shooters benefit from SCN features such as Smooth Skin Movie, Movie IS, HDR options, and Close-Up Demos for product-centric recordings.
Professional 7K Recording & Advanced Video Tools
Designed with serious hybrid creators in mind, the R6 Mark III brings impressive cinema-class video performance. It can internally record 7K 60p 12-bit Canon RAW Light, or output 7K 30p ProRes RAW to an external recorder. For maximum sharpness, 4K FINE mode oversamples from 7K to deliver exceptionally detailed DCI and UHD 4K imagery.

Creators working across multiple aspect ratios will benefit from Open Gate 3:2 capture at 7K, which allows easy cropping for vertical, square, or custom formats—ideal for social media and mixed-platform delivery.

High-speed shooters will see major improvements: the R6 Mark III now records DCI and UHD 4K up to 119.8p, offering 5x slow motion at 23.98p, and 179.8p in Full HD and DCI 2K. A dedicated Slow & Fast Motion mode on the Mode dial gives smooth control over frame rate, playback speed, and compression settings.
Expanded Color Control, LUT Support & Custom Picture Profiles
For in-camera color management, the R6 Mark III introduces new tools including Canon Log 2, enabling over 15 stops of dynamic range. Users can load and apply custom LUTs directly in-camera, attach them to Custom Picture profiles, and activate them while recording for accurate monitoring.

A new Custom Picture menu gives direct access to Canon Log 2, Canon Log 3, HLG, PQ, BT.709, Canon 709, Color Filters, and additional fine-tuning controls for advanced shooters.
Dual Pixel CMOS AF II with Register People Priority
Borrowed from Canon’s flagship bodies, the updated Dual Pixel CMOS AF II system provides fast, highly intelligent subject detection and tracking for people, animals, and vehicles. New to the 6-series lineup, Register People Priority lets users store up to 10 individuals in-camera, ensuring they remain the prioritized subject even in populated scenes.

Additional AF refinements include four new AF area modes, the ability to cancel tracking/subject detection, and customizable buttons for preset focus recall. For video, Canon’s refined Movie Servo AF algorithm—adapted from the C400 and C80 cinema cameras—produces smoother, more natural focus transitions.
8.5-Stop In-Body Image Stabilization
The enhanced sensor-shift IBIS system provides up to 8.5 stops of stabilization at the center of the frame, delivering exceptionally steady handheld performance for both stills and video. When paired with stabilized RF lenses, Coordinated IS further improves stability. For video shooters, Movie Digital IS combines optical, sensor-shift, and digital correction to maintain steady footage while moving.

Refined Body Design, EVF & Vari-Angle LCD
The R6 Mark III features a durable magnesium alloy body with improved ergonomics and a sealed design suitable for adverse weather. A high-resolution 3.69m-dot OLED EVF offers a natural view with OVF View Assist for greater dynamic range simulation. The 3.0″ 1.62m-dot vari-angle touchscreen supports flexible framing, self-recording, and vertical content creation.
Advanced monitoring tools—waveform, false color, and zebra—are integrated from Canon’s Cinema EOS line for professional exposure evaluation.

Rugged, Reliable Operation
Supporting higher-resolution media and longer recording times, the R6 Mark III includes dual card slots: one CFexpress Type B and one SD UHS-II (V90). The shutter mechanism is rated for 500,000 cycles, matching the durability of Canon’s top-tier bodies. Power is supplied by the upgraded LP-E6P battery, offering up to 620 shots per charge, and the camera is compatible with the BG-R20 battery grip for extended runtime and vertical-shooting comfort.
The Multi-Function Shoe supports advanced accessories such as the EL-5 Speedlite, DM-E1D Mic, and ST-E10 transmitter, while remaining backward-compatible via the AD-E1 adapter.
Flexible Connectivity for Modern Workflows
Wired and wireless options give creators multiple ways to transfer files and control the camera. A USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 port supports charging, data transfer, and UVC/UAC webcam output up to Full HD 30p. The camera includes 3.5mm mic and headphone jacks, HDMI output, and Bluetooth plus dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4/5 GHz) for remote control through the Canon Camera Connect app.
Professional users will appreciate built-in FTP transfer, compatibility with the Canon Content Transfer Mobile app, and the ability to save/load network communication profiles—useful for repeated workflows across studios or locations.
