All-in-One Design
The RED KOMODO 6K redefines portability with a revolutionary all-in-one design that maintains RED’s renowned image quality in an exceptionally compact form. Featuring a built-in CFast 2.0 card slot supporting data rates up to 280 MB/s, it’s ready to shoot with minimal setup. A 2.9″ 1440 x 1440 top touchscreen offers intuitive control and live monitoring, while RED Control enables remote operation via Wi-Fi using iOS or Android devices. For wired control, a USB Type-C port is available alongside optional adapters. Despite its ultracompact form, the KOMODO sacrifices nothing in performance, making it an ideal solution for versatile, high-end productions. This base model includes the KOMODO 6K body, AC power adapter, Mini World Travel Adapter Kit, and a Canon RF-to-EF mechanical lens adapter.
6K S35 Sensor
At the heart of the RED KOMODO 6K is a 19.9MP Super35 CMOS sensor delivering stunning 6K resolution at 6144 x 3160. With over 16 stops of dynamic range, it provides exceptional detail, color depth, and latitude in both highlights and shadows. The high resolution gives creators the flexibility to shoot in full 6K or crop to 4K or HD while maintaining sharpness and quality. Canon RF Mount
The Canon RF lens mount plays a key role in the KOMODO’s compact design, offering broad compatibility without compromising versatility. Natively supporting mechanical RF lenses, the camera also accommodates mechanical EF lenses using the included RF-to-EF adapter. For even more functionality, optional electronic EF-to-RF adapters can be used to enable autofocus and additional features with electronic Canon EF-mount lenses. This flexibility allows creators to utilize a wide variety of glass, from modern autofocus lenses to vintage cinema optics.
Global Shutter
The KOMODO 6K’s global shutter sensor captures fast-moving subjects with exceptional clarity, eliminating motion artifacts and rolling shutter distortion. For the first time in a RED camera, the KOMODO 6K features Phase-Detect Autofocus (PDAF), offering fast and reliable focusing performance. Compatible with select RF lenses and adapted Canon EF-mount lenses using an electronic EF-to-RF adapter, this system brings responsive autofocus to professional cinema workflows. The intuitive touchscreen interface also enables quick subject selection and focus adjustments, making it easier to maintain sharp focus in dynamic shooting environments.
REDCODE RAW
The KOMODO 6K utilizes REDCODE RAW, a powerful 16-bit file format that balances high image quality with manageable file sizes. This format is designed for efficiency, enabling direct editing in many NLE systems without the need for time-consuming transcoding. Users can capture stunning 6K footage at up to 40 fps, with compression options simplified into HQ, MQ, and LQ modes to suit different needs—prioritizing either image quality or data rate. REDCODE RAW also supports 5K at up to 48 fps, 4K at up to 60 fps, and 2K at up to 120 fps, offering exceptional flexibility in post-production. For workflows that require conventional formats, the KOMODO can also record in Apple ProRes 422 HQ and standard 422, supporting DCI 4K up to 60 fps and DCI 2K up to 120 fps.
CFast Recording
The RED KOMODO 6K supports high-speed recording at up to 280 MB/s using RED PRO or approved third-party CFast 2.0 cards. This allows for reliable, high-bandwidth data capture essential for recording 6K REDCODE RAW footage and other demanding formats without compromising performance or quality.
REDCODE Options

Apple ProRes Formats
