Optimized for Video
Purpose-built with video creators in mind, this lens features an electronically controlled Power Zoom mechanism that enables smooth, precise zoom transitions during recording. Zoom control can be operated directly from the lens barrel or through compatible Sony camera bodies.
Four XD linear motors power the zoom system, delivering fast, accurate, and near-silent performance. When paired with select Sony cameras, Power Zoom can work alongside Clear Image Zoom to extend reach up to 2x while maintaining impressive image quality. When set to a slower zoom speed and operated remotely, transitions between optical and Clear Image Zoom remain seamless.
Additional video-focused features include:
- De-clickable aperture ring for smooth, silent iris adjustments

Manual focus control benefits from Sony’s Linear Response MF system, offering intuitive, repeatable adjustments. An AF/MF switch on the barrel allows for quick changes between focus modes.
